Robert Whitehead Oldfield was born on 15 Dec 1885 in Redditch, Worcestershire.

Royal Australian Navy, 1920-1921. "Lent" from Royal Navy 27 Jan 1920 for two years. Service Number RN 347078 (RAN 9844)
27 Jan 1920-25 Jul 1920, HMAS Anzac. Rating Ch. Writer. Certificate of
Mentioned in dispatches, Aug 1920.This was delivered to The Post
Office, King River Road, Albany, Western Australia. The date was 10th
July 1922. His brother Stanley Cyril and wife Mabel were residing in
King River Road, Albany at the time and in fact stayed until 1925 when
they returned to Koyuga.
26 Jul 1920-17 Jan 1921, HMAS Cerberus. Rating Ch. Writer. Invalided
out, 17 Jan 1921, Williamstown, Melbourne, Australia. Address on
discharge, Koyuga Victoria.
Two undated references on his record say
"Approved to be D. Invalided in Australia. Has signed claim renouncing
all claim to a return passage to the U.K. 20/4986"
and later
"Approved, as an act of grace, to be granted a 3rd class passage to UK for commonwealth ... of thanks."

Mary Ann Whitehead, daughter of Robert Whitehead and Mary
Richmond, was born in 1858 in Greenhow Hill, WRY and christened
on 11 Apr 1858 in Pateley Bridge, WRY (Family History Library Church of
England. Chapelry of Pateley-Bridge.) Mary Ann was known as 'Pollie'
and was the second child. By 1881 she had left home and was a
Dressmaker to Chas. Wensley, Morton In Keighley, WRY.

Thomas Henry Oldfield was born in 1892 in Leeds, WRY
(Yorkshire BMD, 1892 OLDFIELD Thomas H Hunslet Leeds HUNS/151/223). He
was educated at Knaresborough council school and Knaresborough Grammar
school. and at the age of 18 migrated with his parents and brothers to
Australia. He became a Grocers Apprentice in 1914 in Koyuga, Victoria,
Australia. and was also described later as a grocer.
